Related: About this forumVolkswagen bringing back a fully electric (and self-driving) Microbus in 2022.
http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/volkswagen/id-buzz/98136/vw-id-buzz-microbus-confirmed-for-2022-release------------------
The I.D. Buzz will be built in a way that allows an upgrade towards self-driving later on, once legalese allows it.
Driver-seat, co-driver-seat, 0-to-6 passenger-seats due to flexible seat-positioning.
Floor made of birchwood.
One trunk in the front, one in the back. (The original design of the Microbus was discontinued mainly for safety-reasons: The flat snout meant that there was no buffer for the driver in case of a frontal collision. That's why they added a trunk to the front.)
Batteries and engine in the floor.
Dashboard gets replaced with two touchscreens (one in the steering-wheel, one in the dashboard) and a head-up-display.
275 kW resp. 374 HP engine-power
111 kWh battery-capacity
~ 600 km range
length x width x height (in meters) : 4.9 x 1.9 x 1.9
Storage-volume 660 to 4,600 liters (depending on how many seats you use)
four-wheel-drive
0-100 kph in 5 s
maximum velocity 160 kph
On sale in 2022, price yet unknown.

(1,257 posts)2. Pretty darned cool!
For those who are interested in the real and actual history of the company, and origin of the name VolksWagen, I would highly recommend this book:
"Small Wonder: The Amazing Story of the Volkswagen Beetle"
by Walter Henry Nelson
It is a fascinating read, and easily dispels many grossly incorrect myths, that live on to this day.
