RHP Corbin Burnes traded to Orioles

As a Brewers fan… ouch. 😣
https://www.mlb.com/news/corbin-burnes-traded-to-orioles

Burnes, the NL Cy Young Award winner in ‘21, is one of the bona fide pitching aces in all of baseball (cumulative ERA under 3.00 for the past 4 seasons). Big loss for the Crew, but he is in the final year of team control and made no secret of wanting to test free agency after the coming season.

Brewers get in return INF Joey Ortiz (MLB Pipeline’s No. 63 prospect), LHP DL Hall, and a draft pick (2024 Competitive Balance Round A pick, No. 34 overall). Ortiz is likely to slot in as their starting 3B, assuming he makes the cut coming out of spring training camp.

Brewers just recently made waves by signing free agent and former Phillie Rhys Hoskins to a 2-year contract, so speculation was that they’d hang on to Burnes. Guess not. Bummer!

Orioles fans, your team just got the best starting pitcher in baseball, IMHO.

Add that to the team's rich pipeline of young talent and it's looking awfully rosy for the Orioles.
