Wander Franco charged for abuse of teen in Dominican Republic
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, Fla. (WWSB) - ESPN reports that the Dominican Republic has officially charged Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco with sexual abuse and sexual exploitation against a minor.
The investigation against Franco began a year ago today, when officials received a report of the shortstop having sex with a 14-year-old. In Jan. of 2024, the Dominican Republic accused Franco of sexual exploitation. The girl’s mother faced the same charge.
Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association have extended Franco’s administrative leave through July 14.
