The rainout of game 162 between the Astros and Guardians was cancelled due to rain. Nothing was as stake as far as the playoffs were concerned, but Guardians third baseman Jose Ramirez missed a chance to hit his 40th home run to match his 40+ doubles and 40+ stolen bases for the year.
Ive said that player health is more important than stats and I still believe that. But what a bummer. Ramirez has played his heart out this season.

(374 posts)No make-up... Tomorrow's focus will be on the Atlanta-NY doubleheader. As an Astros fan, I don't mind, as the team is already banged up enough as it is. I do feel sorry for Jose Ramirez, though, as I'm sure he would have liked to have four more at-bats to try for 40-40.

(374 posts)Yes, both teams were set as to their seeding, so no real need to re-schedule. Another downside is that the Astros were going to give one of their minor league pitchers his first MLB start.
I really fear the Tigers in this playoff, though. With their pitching and recent good play, they seem to have the hot hand, despite dropping a couple to the AA White Sox.
Also, thanks for the welcome!

(374 posts)I was happy to Dusty win in 2022, but I was really glad to see him leave after 2023. His incessant playing of Martin Maldonado, the vacuum at the bottom of the batting order, just absolutely drove me crazy.

(374 posts)Yeah, I guess they do, but it was kind of like showing up for work and then being told at quitting time that you didn't really need to be there today.

(374 posts)Well, it's over. Astros are done. This is why I feared the Tigers: excellent pitching, young and hungry hitters, and A.J. Hinch. My fear was justified.
