New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Guardians

New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Guardians channel today? How to watch Game 3 of NLCS

The Cleveland Guardians need to make a change and they need to make it fast. Through two games against the New York Yankees with a trip to the World Series on the line, the Guardians' offense has looked ineffective, mustering only five runs through eighteen innings.

Jose Ramirez and company are the last bright spot left standing in MLB. While the Yankees, along with both NLCS combatants – the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers – were top-five in payroll in 2024. The Guardians managed to put together a contender while ranking 23rd.

The Yankees will send Clarke Schmidt to the mound, who was solid in his first postseason start, tossing 4.2 innings against the Kansas City Royals surrendering only two runs, four hits, and one walk. The Guardians, meanwhile, will trot Matthew Boyd out, who pitched in both Game 2 and Game 5 of the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers. He's been pretty dependable thus far, pitching 6.2 innings of shutout ball with only five hits and three walks, while picking up ten strikeouts along the way.

Here's how to watch Thursday's Game 3.

the series is going very much the way I expected.

Guardians Achilles Heel -- lack of dominant starting pitching and clutch hitting -- is exposed playing the big payroll Yankees. I salute the valiancy, but at two games down it would require a Herculean effort of play and some really good luck to turn it around.

As I posted early, Guardians' fans can be complete knowing their team overcame all expectations and won not only their division but a first-round playoff bye. The season is a success! And it's been a lot of fun to follow.
