FINALLY !!! A WIN
Giants win wild one as Bumgarner allows slam, then homers
I dont think I want to be part of that, Bumgarner said after a 10-7 Giants victory over the Mets that will stand as one of the oddest of 2016 no matter what happens the rest of the way.
Odd or not, the Giants needed it to end a four-game losing streak and regain a game on the Dodgers. They are a half-game behind.
Bumgarner and Jacob deGrom owned two of the four best ERAs in the National League. The over-under on runs in this game should have been just above nada.
The odds that these pitchers would combine to allow nine runs in the fourth inning of a scoreless game fell somewhere between the sun not rising in the east and people from Neptune landing on the infield to rake it between innings.
In the end, the Giants dealt deGrom the worst beating of his career, eight runs on 13 hits, both career highs, and Bumgarner added another ace to his list of home run kills. Only Bumgarner, Giancarlo Stanton and Carlos Gonzalez can say they have homered against Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke and deGrom.
