If so, I share your pain!

(3,286 posts)Though 'cheering for' isn't the same as the bitter resentment of professional sports, I feel when I watch the Blue Jays.
And since the other part of my screen name stands for social democrat, I'm caught between the injustice of Big Money playing 'It's My Turn' with each other and my own irrational fanboy enthusiasm. I'm too old to be worrying about this shit. I should be out looking for a seniors slow pitch league...

(20,086 posts)Sounds like his job is in jeopardy. I don't think it would matter if the Jays had Tony La Russa, Jim Leyland, Sparky Anderson or Yogi Berra behind the bench, they aren't going anywhere with this struggling starting pitching, struggling relief corps and struggling offence (and throw in some injuries now too). Sigh.

(3,286 posts)But like I suggested, it's just not our turn....to play in the World Series. With the amount of money generated by playoff baseball it would be un-American to let merit reap the rewards. It's not how capitalism works.

(14,190 posts)Watch the regionals of college baseball going on right now. By Monday the field will be pared down from 64 to 16 teams, who will then meet in 8 best two out of three series to determine who goes to the College World Series.
Games are all over the ESPN channels today.
For most of these players, college ends their organized playing days, which probably began when they were 6 or 8 years old.
