that my father was friends with a Cleveland Indians player back in the 1940s, before I was born. He talked about how the players would take the streetcar to the stadium for games. No luxury cars for the players back then, except for maybe the star players.

My dad was a Cleveland native, he played semi pro ball in the sandlots. He said the same thing, the pro players used to take streetcars to the games. Thanks for the memory!

in baseball back then, with the Cards and Browns (Orioles).

The Rangers were still in DC, the As in Philly, and the Dodgers & Giants in the NYC metro area. All the other western teams of today were expanded. Even the Braves were still in Boston. Cincy and Pittsburgh were at the center of the baseball world.

It makes sense that flying was an efficient option. The players were less tired and could play better baseball.
