Some years ago I was a regular season game on the TEEVEE. Nothing significant about it. As the play happened I wasn't aware my teenage daughter had walked into the room. After the play happened I hear an exasperated voice say:
"I can't believe that guy failed to move the runner over." And she walked out.
My work on earth was done.

(34,481 posts)When my husband and I were first dating, he knew I liked baseball. But one day he came over and I had a game on the TV. My team had a runner in scoring position with two outs. The next batter that came up swung at the first pitch and hit a lazy fly ball which was an easy catch for the center fielder. I grumbled, Bah! He got under it. Mr. O looked at me stunned, and said, Whered you learn that? Same source as your daughter.

(31,411 posts)the one where my son and my husband were at a White Sox/Cubs game. My husband is a Sox fan. My kids are all Cubs fans.
The picture is wonderful. My son was a season ticket holder with the Cubs.
Your daughter sounds like a winner.

(15,751 posts)I was a little kid, but watched bb for hours. There were often 3 games to choose from; Yankees, Giants, and Dodgers on Sunday afternoons. The three of us watched mostly the Yankees [father and gf had seen the Babe play in person]. [We would go see 1 special game a year. I always chose Yanks v. Ted Williams].
One game, [very doubtful if it was Father's Day], was a game in which the Giant's Don Mueller, [pronounced Mule er, if I remember right], hit an inside-the-park home run, in the Polo Grounds. There were probably a number of such homers, with a 480' center field. The clubhouse was on top of that 480 wall, with outdoor steps leading to it.
Anyway, what made the Mueller hr memorable was that, Mueller was a slow, choke up the bat, contact hitter. The hr was a pop fly that each of 3 players, 2nd, rf, cf, called to catch it. All 3 swerved off short of a collision, and overran the ball. Somehow slow Mueller beat the throw to the plate. Never saw anything like it.
Polo Grounds were my all time favorite baseball field. [Feels good to tell that one. Thanks for you to enable me to grab the opportunity].
