Bake McBride and Tom Seaver Story

When I was in college Cardinal player, and Rookie of the Year in the NL in 1974, used to hit in my college gym during the off season. I remember him moving the pitching machine up from 60 feet to 35 feet and just rake.

Once when he was coming out of the gym I stopped and asked him a question. I said, "Mr. McBride who is the hardest pitcher to hit? He laughed, more like scoffed, and said, "well they are all hard, but only one is untouchable, that's Seaver."
