Crawford's walk-off homer lifts Giants over Rockies 5-4
History came within a whisper of repeating itself at AT&T Park on Sunday.
Last year, the Giants beat Colorado on Angel Pagan's walkoff inside-the-park home run. This year, Gregor Blanco attempted a 360-foot dash with two outs in the ninth, only to be thwarted by two great throws.
So the game went into the 10th inning and the Giants walked off in a more traditional way. Brandon Crawford, who has hit lefties exceptionally thus far, homered to Rex Brothers' second pitch to give the Giants a 5-4 win and a series victory against the Rockies.
Crawford picked the perfect time for his first homer of the year, a high drive just inside the right-field foul pole that reached McCovey Cove.
Blanco had entered for Michael Morse in the seventh inning and batted with two outs in the ninth, the score tied 4-4, facing righty Adam Ottavino. He hit a shot off the bricks in right-center that caromed away from right fielder Michael Cuddyer.
