The SF Giants don theirs for Tuesday home games, and I spend half the game trying the figure what team is what, plus the 'Fog' numbers are impossible to read half the time.

(22,886 posts)104 mph is fast! I imagine catching a ball with that speed is difficult with a high possibility of injury.
Did the fielder make a catch or a play? If so, bravo to the player.

(24,790 posts)technology can bring to the game. But I agree it shouldn't be the first words out of the announcer's mouth at the crack of the bat. The Giants announcers will usually mention it as an aside if it was something significant.

(37,795 posts)Collectively, Jon Miller, Duane Kuiper, and Mike Krukow have over a hundred years announcing baseball.
Mike Krukow is a Southern California boy and grew up listening to Vin Scully, while Jon Miller grew up in Northern California and primarily grew up listening to Russ Hodges and Lon Simmons, he admits that he caught a lot of Dodger night games and Vin Scully thanks to that nighttime am bounce signal. All three borrow a LOT from Hodges, Simmons, and Scully
I notice they use that exit speed stuff, but only AFTER the play has ended.
Now, that ball park wind swirl thingy is another mater, entirely.
