Who holds the MLB record for hitting the most consecutive doubles in one game?

Lou Boudreau, born this day in 1917.

Boudreau still holds the MLB record for hitting the most consecutive doubles in a game (four), set on July 14, 1946.

He started with another play-by-play announcer who was killed in a car wreck. Vince Lloyd then took that guy's place.

Boudreau could be accidental comic gold on commercials. Commercials were often live and Lou would fight words he couldn't pronounce to the death. There was one classic where he fought 'rhododendron' to a near deadly draw.

But he sure knew his baseball.

Who can forget when he left the booth to be one of the Cubs 'college of managers'?

There was a guy named Earl Webb, who played from ‘25-‘33. He hit 67 doubles one year. Still the record, I think.
And Boudreau, as a player-manager was credited with the first infield shift. The Boudreau Shift. Radical at the time. Before sabermetrics and the like.
