(2,133 posts)I coached little league and you could not get the African American kids to play. Baseball has become a well off game. Players have to come from households with a lot of disposable money. Gloves are $250.00 bats are $300.00 and travel baseball is in the thousands.

That is quite interesting. Not sure what it means. Someone upthread noted it was the cost of equipment. I would guess lack of facilities in AA neighborhoods is also a factor.
