…who is starting tonight for the Astros, is 39 years, 8 months and 8 days (as of today, if I’ve done my math right: birthday Feb 20, 1983.) So he has a chance at becoming the oldest ever to pitch a complete WS game… but that ain’t gonna happen, he hasn’t pitched 9 innings all year, has he?

But I wouldn’t bet against him racking up at least 10 K tonight! Even against the Phillies, who don’t strike out much.

Criminey, I was nearly 9 years past high school when that punk was born.

Hardly any pitchers have CGs anymore, and a manager in a WS is thinking about when he'll need to use an ace again.
I'm with you. He isn't going to go all 9.

Who is the oldest professional pitcher to pitch a complete game?

Bonus Points: What is the connection between the pitcher's proclivity to smoke pot and the city he pitched the complete game in?

Actually he broke his own record by doing it twice, the second one at age 65. He also played all nine positions, one each inning, another year.

420 is a clue on the bonus question

The pot thing is what made me say him, but that was a lucky guess.
Pitching at 65! Impressive, indeed.
He couldn't have been shelled if he pitched all 9. He'd be too worn out!
I had a good arm as a kid. I can't throw it a third of what I could at 16. And, he pitched 9 innings at 65!!!

He grows, harvests, and ages baseball bat wood, and is plugged into an outfit that turns them (Fall River and Axis Bats). Most of his bats end up down in the islands (Cuba and others) where there is a dearth of good bats. He's as crazy as ever, and that's a good thing.
