(9,649 posts)Chin up. There are (maybe) 2 games left.
So tell me, how are they cheating in Philly?
SoCalDavidS
(9,999 posts)They should have had their Title taken away. But sadly, that's not the way things work in this country. Even in mundane things like professional sports.
Consequences would have been nice. So I'll forever despise them. Same goes for all the POS players who used steroids.
But like I said, cheating pays, when there are no real consequences.

(4,274 posts)Or Red Sox? Both were implicated in the same scandal, the RS in their 2018 WS year, should that be taken away?
I wasn't aware of the Yankees' involvement, but if cheating occurred, then any Championship is tainted and should have been vacated.

(3,064 posts)Should the Patriots lose a Super Bowl Championship ring? They've been implicated in cheating as well.
Nope, and neither should the 'Stros. This is just another example of bias against Texas.
So sorry your team played an obviously superior team and got their ass kicked. Boo Fucking Hoo.
SoCalDavidS
(9,999 posts)And I absolutely don't like Texas. Perhaps it has something to do with the politics and many of the people there. No, I didn't say all of the people, but the majority.

(3,064 posts)There are a lot of people who despise California as well. I'm not one of them. I think it's a beautiful state. It surely does have its share of assholes though
and I've had extremely recent contact with one.

(9,999 posts)Also, someone who has been a member of DU as long as you have, should know that personal attacks, and calling someone an Asshole, is very much against the rules of this site.
I suggest you not respond to me ever again, and please put me on ignore.

(3,064 posts)There was no electronic gear capable of stealing signs. Until the mid to late '60's scoreboards didn't keep scores digitally. Scores were hung on scoreboards using a cane type device.
So now with the electronic age comes at least three incidents of East Coast teams cheating, the Yankees and Red Sox Sox in baseball and the Patriots in the NFL. And, of course, the Astros being from Texas will be the team really slagged for it.
I never said anything about signs being stolen electronically but with the long tradition of sign stealing in baseball when electronic measures became possible looks like hi tech tradition carried on through the years.
Get your cognitive sensibilities straight.

Oh
only if its your no hitter.
SoCalDavidS
(9,999 posts)Sure, it's nice, but a No Hitter used to refer to a single pitcher, not 5 pitchers.
OAITW r.2.0
(28,135 posts)Same result - 27 batters to the plate, no hits. That's a no-hitter to my way of thinking.
RussBLib
(9,649 posts)Still a no-hitter, for sure. Not many pitchers pitch complete games anymore, whether due to the coaches.or pitchers.

(5,451 posts)my sentiment about Texas ever since my first visit many years ago. Since that time they only got worse.

(52,153 posts)Phila wins the popularity vote, hands down. Philly rocks and Texas sucks!!! (at least politically, as far as this Philly native is concerned)!
RussBLib
(9,649 posts)...the big cities of Houston, San Antonio, Austin, Dallas, and El Paso, are deep blue.
I still find it hard to believe sometimes that the rural yokels outvote the cities. We use electronic voting in much of Texas, and I never have trusted those machines ever since they were introduced in 2000. Coincidentally (?) the "leadership" in Texas has been all red ever since.

(3,064 posts)The clubs are always hopping with great music. ACL and SXSW are world famous of course but it's Music City now. Something for everyone any night.
Been that way since the mid '60's and it's just gotten
larger, a lot larger. And UT-Austin is a 1st rate public university. You'll leave loving the place.
Just don't come in the middle of Summer. Texas Summers can be as brutal as you've heard.

(1,766 posts)Too full of itself, and not nearly as liberal as it pats itself on the back for being.
And that traffic is the worst.
If I must be in Texas, I much prefer San Antonio or the Valley, and even Dallas has its own weird charm.
But to each their own.

(37,607 posts)We are seeing some wicked good pitching by BOTH teams. My Magic 8-Ball says this could even go seven games, and my black orb is rooting for Dusty Baker.
Ziggysmom
(3,556 posts)we're not punished for cheating in 2017, prior to Dusty joining the club. But I admire Dusty and I am happy for him and the new guys on the team. Congrats to MVP Jeremy Peña, too.
