Why schedule fireworks during nesting season when birds need to communicate with their young? It's shameful.

Why build a green space & spend millions on landscaping designed to attract wild birds & animals only to repeatedly terrorize them with fireworks? Why schedule fireworks during nesting season when birds need to communicate w/their young? It's shameful.

Tonight's fireworks over the Angel of the Waters at Central Park's Bethesda Fountain. These fireworks are the traditional ending to the free New York Philharmonic performance on the Great Lawn.

That picture is spectacular. That’d be a beautiful framed picture in a home or gallery.

Especially in places with lots of wildlife. I wish there some other way to celebrate.

my father raised 'fancy' canaries. Kennedy Airport (at that point, 'Idlewild) starting running passenger jets. That year, no eggs hatched - the vibrations of jets going over his aviary killed the baby's from the vibrations, or the adult birds were put off of mating. Eventually the jets were retrofitted with some sort of dampening, but it was too late; four or five years to late.
Now that was repetitive, nearly constant, high dB NOISE.

But things you never consider are the things that will get you in the end.
