Great egrets driven north by storms

Recent storms drove shorebirds north along the Susquehanna River. We seldom see so many great egrets gathered here. Taken today south of Columbia, PA.

They remind me of what I saw at High Island in Texas with Andy. But there they were expected! It was spring and they were raising their chicks.

These egrets picked a beautiful port to escape from the recent storms!

I'll post a shot I took of the area earlier in the day.

Kidding and not kidding. I got some nice egret photos on my recent visit to SF Bay. I'll post one soon.

Never so many. That's an amazing sight. Perched in trees like Christmas ornaments. Cool!

The birds were about an eighth of a mile away and the only way to get close was by boat. The serious birders along the shore were grousing about the kayakers spooking the birds. Can't say I blame them.

Especially love the shot of the egrets in the trees. Thanks for sharing!
