Iris the Osprey - thought to be the oldest known of her species - returns to her nest!!

Experts believe Iris to be around 24 years old. She recently returned to her nest at the mouth of Hellgate Canyon here in Missoula. You can see her 2022 return in the video below.

I am so hopeful she partners with a reliable mate this year. Last year, a crow stole her eggs. Iris is due for a good season!!

Iris has had questionable taste in men these past few years and in 2020 a crow stole her eggs. I’m rooting for her though! I was so pleased to see her back.

Out of my area, I guess.

There was a nest out at the hemp farm I helped with a few years ago. It was fun to watch the youngsters on their training flights over the fields.
