(24,330 posts)I used to work by the river and there was an osprey that nested atop one of the buildings right above where I walked. I'd talk to her and we'd look at each other and occasionally she'd "talk" back to me. It's one of the few things I miss about working.

(136,772 posts)They'll leave MD soon, for their southern vacation, and I'll watch for them around St. Pat's Day. Fortunately this is @ my home, so don't have to 'work' to see them.

(24,330 posts)I have seen some flying around where I live (across from the river) but no nests that I know of. We do have grey herons that nest here for awhile and they are awesome, the ibis in their season (now), and woodpeckers, hawks, ravens, crows, woodpeckers, cardinals, jays, bluebirds, chicadees and mocking birds are very abundant in this old forest. We even have a number of vultures around, but those are much more recent.
Damn, forgot to mention owls. We have numerous owls here too.
