If the group of geese is flying, it is called a skein. On the water, it's a gaggle.

(3,841 posts)I just walked by a tree in front of the CVS, and it was buzzing-- hundreds of sparrows resting on the branches before heading out again.

(136,772 posts)USUALLY @ this time of year, they appear around here for a few weeks (I think,) and they disappear, so this may be their resting place.

Neat birds, especially when you see a bunch of them all at once. Where I'm at, we along the rivers (Missouri and Mississippi Rivers) so a lot of birds follow these pathways up and down (north and south, depending on the time of the year).

(136,772 posts)a goose family 'stole' our osprey nest in March, took it over so the osprey pair (who visit here annually) were unable to establish a family this year.
Did watch adult geese teaching goslings to walk around, and of course plenty poop too.
