with the bald head reminds me of the blue jays around here. I noticed a couple of them bald like this guy and was worried that they had some disease or parasite. Turns out that some birds molt that way, all the head feathers going at once. It's normal and OK. I guess (hope) that's what's going on here with this spectacular bird.
btw thanks for posting photos of all these gorgeous creatures. An early opponent of Natural Selection said he could understand goldfinches being attracted to each other, but why would any bird want to mate with such a gaudy bird as a macaw?
