Female ruby throat hummingbird



I love these little guys! Very territorial and engage in all sorts of aerial combat over the feeder. Flying so fast I can't track them with my eye they fly through the steel handrail, around the posts and through the branches. Never touch a thing!

I had a business and played in swing bands full time in Colorado. One of us would fly back and forth for long weekends. The Sonoran Desert museum was my favorite place to go. InThe humming bird house they let you wander in this large environment with a lot of beautiful hummers. They were used to seeing humans respectfully taking pictures. They will collect thread from your cloths and try to get you hair. Lots of personality on display.
