Only twice has a 64-yard field goal or longer ever been made, once in that Denver altitude, the other by someone who looks to be a rare place kicker headed for Canton.
The Broncos, rather than go for it on fourth and five with two timeouts and not much time left, opt for a 64-yard field goal, which was admittedly close, but every game counts, especially in a league like the NFL.
Thats not a good debut for Nathaniel Hackett.

Ouch!!

(706 posts)Penalties cost downs and gave away free first downs, and was just as damaging as the fumbles. Plus poor goal line play-calling illustrating Einstein's definition of insanity.
Very disappointing.

(1,856 posts)I would have went for it. Just a 7-10 yard pass and ...
I would have preserved some of that time with the timeouts.

(10,487 posts)They pay Wilson 250+ million for 5 years, he is a future hall of famer, and instead of putting the ball in his hands on 4-5, they go for an nfl distance record tying FG. McMannis has a carrier 1-10 over 60 yds
Then he spent his timeouts with 15 secs left, for a purpose unknown.
Nobody agrees with it. Nor should they.
