(2,899 posts)Good for my favorite team whenever the chefs lose. But Toney had more drops tonight than most receivers have in a season.
Typical first game sloppiness as not enough starters play significant reps in the preseason.

Maybe some nervousness not having Kelce on the field?

(186,651 posts)When Mahomes moves out the pocket, Kelce adjusts. Sometimes upfield. Then everyone adjusts and Mahomes has his playground.
Detroit looked fast.
I didnt know this until yesterday, this was the fourth game Kelce has missed in the League.

I highly doubt it.
Chiefs?
Certainly plausible
and most likely!
Just my two cents

(5,124 posts)The Chiefs may make the playoffs, but they're not getting back to the Big Dance. The defensive backfields of the LA Chargers, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Miami (with Ramsey in the lineup), and the NY Jets are on paper at least a step better than the Lions secondary.
If Kelce is going to have to miss significant playing time, KC might want to call Tampa Bay and see what it would take to get Mike Evans traded. Even if it takes a 1st round pick, its more or less like a high 2nd round pick given where the Chiefs are likely to finish. The Chiefs cap situation may be more of the constraining factor here than willingness to give up picks.
They also missed Chris Jones on the DL last night, his absence was felt nearly every time Detroit ran the ball.

(5,124 posts)The Leos (my nickname for the Detroit Lions) are no longer a team that an opponent can try to "mail-in" the game. I was very impressed with the Lions OL run blocking, they performed on a number of plays like an OL from the 1970s and 1980s. Most NFL teams today struggle with putting together OLs that can effectively run block because of how the college game is played today (most college programs de-emphasize or no longer coach the old school hand-in-the-ground run blocking).
The NFC North is a pretty open division in terms of the competition (the Packers and potentially the Bears may be Caleb Williams sweepstakes participants) and I think the Lions have a good shot of not only winning that division, but making a run in the playoffs if they continue playing like they did last night.

(2,899 posts)That would be real bad for a bunch of guys, especially the guy in Philly who lines as ludicrously far back as the KC dude last night did.
