Hats off to Detroit from this Forty Niner fan. That's one hell of a team.

Great respect for the Lions. They played a heck of a game and had a great season. They should be a good team for some time. They were kicking the Niners' ass in the first half, and they shoulda just stayed with the run, but it's a learning experience for their head coach. If they had just gone for field goals when they had the chance, the ending might have been different.

The Niners' defense has to change for the SB. KC will not make the mistakes that the Lions did, nor do they have a HC who makes bonehead decisions about going on fourth down instead of kicking field goals. The Chiefs are a different class of team. The Niners have their work cut out.

were a couple of players on the Ravens team. Those 15 yard penalties were killer. GO CHIEFS!!

There is the sorry excuse for a human being who doesn't give a shit about his kids.
Goes back to work in trading camp the the day after his son dies of an overdose.
Goes right back to work after his son drives drunk and ruins a girl's life.

They’ve got a lot to work with, going forward, and played impressively.

some criticism, but when the calls work, you’re a gutsy star.

Looking forward to Super Bowl. Both teams have a cool factor.

4. depends on which 49ers team shows up

there have been games where the niners are just about flawless... CMC runs up the middle for 30 yards through a hole that my dead grandmother using her cane could squeeze 10 yards out of. Purdy catches Deebo on a crossing pattern every time. Aiyuk runs a deep pattern and Purdy lays the ball in perfectly. so many weapons...

And they score 30+ points.

And the defense is better than decent, maybe not as good as the Ravens, but better than decent.

That team did not show up in the first half today... and almost didn't show up in the first half of the Green Bay game.

If the "almost flawless team" shows up for the entire game against the Chiefs... well it is like West Wing's Jed Bartlet and the re-election debate with the Florida governor... it won't be "Uncle Fluffy"...

6. It just seemed to me that the Lions got tight in the second half.

The Lions were a juggernaut in the 1st half. IMO, the pressure got to them in the 2nd.
The Chiefs will not feel the pressure because they have been there.

Both in the 2nd half by the same Detroit receiver.

One was on 4th & 2 at the 49ers 28, and the other IIRC was a crucial 3rd down play which ended the drive with a punt.

I think that playoff experience is important and will help us next year. But I am sad today. I really love the Lions and have supported them through thick and thin, good times and bad. I thought our day had come.

Every faithful fan of almost any team knows that feeling. I've eaten my share of dirt as a Niner fan since the days of John Brody. We've had our glory years, but before Walsh and Montana came along, we were in perpetual dire straights.
Dan Campbell has built a solid foundation in Detroit, so enjoy the ride with all its ups and downs. You're among the top teams, and you'll be there for years to come.
