49ers Defense: WTF?

Second week they've been way outplayed by the opposing offense. Rams' Stafford was so rarely pressured in the second half he was able to pick them apart and come from behind to win the game. New defensive coordinator Nick Sorenson was supposed to be the big improvement over Steve Wilkes.

Special teams sucked today too.

I didn’t count, but did my fucking Forty Niners even have eleven men on the field?

It's like they just gave up or something. Not a good look with the offense so shorthanded.

I think it’s more psychological than physical, but when the linchpin of your offense starts the first game of the season like it’s the first day of practice, it has to disrupt the rhythm of the team.

Not to mention the two key offensive (as in assignment, not personality) players sidelined.

Can’t speak to the defense.

Fortunately, I listened on the radio, so it has less impact that way.
I’ve been at a zoom meeting, so I missed the post-game talk.

Wondering if I should turn the radio on.
El stinko.

Bell had a huge drop in the 4th that might have won the game though.

Jennings made up for Ayuik’s holdout. Monster day for him. Good day for Mason. Missed the hands of Kittle. But … this was a winnable game had the D been given a game plan worthy of their potential.

5. I wasn't listening closely. I can learn more if I flip the radio on Monday, especially Greg Papa's show.

I recall hearing him say CATASTROPHE last week.

Could be interesting. There should rightly have been enough cushion to absorb a goof or two.

I always used to say, you have to beat the opposing team and the referees. Every point and yard is important.

No good skating on thin ice. ⛸️

5 losses with Kyle at the helm.

Definitely need
• A "fourth quarter coach" to close games. Lock Kyle up in the broom closet at the end of the third quarter.

and
• A defensive coordinator. If they're good, they're gone. Hire someone excellent who is kin to, or deeply in debt to Jed York, so they can't leave.

• Brian Murphy's new cap.

• Bus tickets for Ronnie Bell and Jake Moody.
