Commanders becoming Redskins again?

In my work meeting this morning some of the MAGATs were talking about the Commanders name being rolled back to the Redskins again. I don't really like "Commanders" either but it certainly was a step up from "Redskins" which is truly derogatory.

Anyone else heard this?

Redskins needed to go as it was definitely derogatory.

I am still unhappy that the Cleveland Indians changed their name. That was actually an homage to an American Indian/indigenous player who was an early star for the team before MLB reverted to segregation because of racist asshats who refused to play with non whites.

Dislike the commanders as a name.

The Nazi wing of the republican party will likely push to change it back

You can ditch the Chief Wahoo logo and keep the name.

Of course, if I were to change the name they would have gone back to the name SPIDERS which was the name of the Cleveland MLB team when that native American player (Louis Sockalexis) played for.

which I didn't think was necessary as they got rid of the grinning chief logo, I thought "The Tribe" which fans already called them.

As for "Redskins", no way, that such a negative. I was for something different. Like some teams like "The Heat", or "The Avalanche", how about "The District"?

I'm Ojibwe and it's offensive. Would you also be okay with, say, the Denver Darkies or Honolulu Hebes? It's basically the same thing.

Once you've been called a "dirty redskin" by White guys, the name never loses its sting. I know.

Your reply seems disconnected to the post to which you replied.
That post mentioned why the original name was offensive to them. Nothing about how the name evolved at all.
They couldn't have made a mistake over a point they never made.

I can't see how your claim is supported by posts #2 and #11.

Your correction might be better directed at the author of #11, who responded to the statement that "the Washington Football Team" was a good name with a scolding that indicated the author of #11 thought #2 had something to do with "Redskins," which it rather clearly did not.

To re-rename all of the military bases after the confederate soldiers....

You know, gotta keep the rednecks and racists happy...

There was a post yesterday that had a video of a young man who was a maga in '16 then read a book that changed his outlook. One of the key takeaways was that they don't want solutions to young mens anger because they are making money of it. Keep the masses on their heels with outrage so folks won't actually take the time to think rationally. The faux newz model...

Washington and the NFL lost the trademark (because it’s racist) so if they were to change it back anyone could sell t-shirts, jerseys, hats, bumper stickers, etc with that name and the logo. There’s no way they let that happen. I still see Redskin stuff around here but the team basically resold everything to all their fans under the new name and logo.

The logo looks like a stencil and I think the name is offensive and imperialistic (though I supported the name change from Redskins).

It's like the Guardians. Horrible name and the logo looks like a bad album cover from the 80s.

With as much money as is rolling around the NFL, I don't see why these teams couldn't have done better.
