Six Heisman finalists announced
Jameis Winston, AJ McCarron, Andre Williams, Tre Mason, Johnny Manziel and Jordan Lynch have been named the six finalists for the 2013 Heisman Trophy, the Heisman Trust announced on Monday.
Its the first time since 1994 and only the second time in Heisman history that six finalists have been named to attend the Heisman ceremony, which takes place this year on Saturday, Dec. 14.
Winston has a chance to become Florida States third Heisman winner overall and first since 2000. McCarron is the third Heisman finalist from Alabama in the last five years. Williams is the first Boston College finalist since Doug Flutie in 1984. Mason is Auburns second finalist since 2010. Manziel is a finalist for the second-straight year and Lynch is the first finalist from Northern Illinois.
With Winston the overwhelming favorite to win this years trophy, most of the suspense will center around who finishes second. Lynch might have the inside track, since he was picked as the runner up by the latest HeismanPundit Straw Poll.
Texas A&M went 4 - 4 this year, why did he even get nominated. The raper Winston will probably win. Ugh.

It's weird to me how the "comparison" with previous years' winners works. I was pulling hard for Auburn's Tre Mason. Not sure why he was so "under the radar" this year. Tre's stats this year were better than those of Heisman winner Mark Ingram (from Alabama) a few years ago. Go figure?
Auburn's defense is looking forward to congratulating Jameis Winston on his Heisman win in a few weeks....
And don't think for a moment that Tre Mason isn't going to use the Winston win for some extra motivation.

(17 posts)Manziel was only brought back since he was defending his heisman. His stats weren't good, his play was spotty, and while he did have some big 4th quarter rallies, he was too inconsistent and A&M couldn't stay among the SEC elite.
Jameis had the luxury of going Florida State going undefeated.
