Who will be in Super Bowl 49?

Last edited Mon Feb 3, 2014, 11:23 PM - Edit history (1)

Who do you predict will be in the next Super Bowl? If this thread generates enough interest, it is my intention to repost it the week prior to Super Bowl 49.

My prediction: The second ever repeat: Seattle Seahawks vs Denver Broncos.

FWIW, at the end of Super Bowl 47 I predicted Seattle and Denver to be in Super Bowl 48 but that prediction was made only among friends. This time, I want to be scoffed at by more than just my friends.

The Broncos had a real tough year with injuries, so they should get some defensive help back next year as well as one of the best offensive lineman in the game in Ryan Clady, who missed this entire year. Last night was a disaster for my Broncos, but I still like the way things look for next year.

So far, 16 teams have made it to back to back Super Bowls, but both teams making it back has happened only once before. (Super Bowls 27 and 28 with Dallas beating Buffalo both times.)

I am in agreement with you about the Broncos. They were imo, by far the best in the AFC West and that conference, (well except for Oakland), was mighty impressive. If Manning stays healthy next year (and I see no real reason he won't-he hardly ever got sacked last season), I look to see him lead the Broncos back to the Super Bowl.

returning. Soft, weak team that won't be able to recover from this humilitation. They're gonna bust their ass during the regular season knowing they can't win the superbowl with their current QB? Nah.

Given recent history, Baltimore, Pittsburgh or New England would be the likely replacement. Depending on personnel moves and injuries.

Seattle and San Francisco are clearly the two best teams in the NFC, it all depends on which gets lucky or better.

NFC West will be a bloodbath with San Francisco, Arizona, Seattle, and an improved Rams team. Any of those 3 or maybe 4 could make it though losing Karlos Dansby really hurts Arizona.

NFC South is tough with New Orleans and Carolina.

Green Bay is always dangerous with Aaron Rodgers.

Houston and Atlanta could return to being playoff teams this season.

AFC - New England is always in the mix until hopefully and finally eliminated.

Talented and up and coming teams in the AFC Cincinnati (w/ a terrific D), Indianapolis, and Kansas City could do it.

There are also teams that while recently they're bad turn a corner. Maybe a team like Buffalo is that team.
