Gov. Pritzker should call their bluff.
"We offered help from the state to keep the Bears in Illinois at a dream spot for development in Arlington Heights at the site of the old Arlington Race Track. There is plenty of acreage for a stadium, parking, and the building of other venues. There is even a Metra Train stop at the cite. Contrast that to the Industrial, inconveniencely located area of Hammond Indiana, and you'd be fools not to build a new stadium in Arlington Heights."
"However, I will not allow Illinois taxpayers to be shaken down like this. When the Chicago Cubs renovated Wrigley Field and the neighborhood around the ballpark, they received no money from Illinois taxpayers. We put a good offer on the table, so work with us before we change our minds."

(103,784 posts)Why are they not spending their own money on these behemoths? There is so much money wasted on these monetarily out of control pro sports that they resemble our current regime in government.

(6,731 posts)But I'm Getting really tired of sports teams holding up taxpayers for new stadiums. Let Indiana have them. Let those North side fans have to drive miles and miles out of state to see a game. Only one e major highway servicing the area. Major jams. One halfway decent season in a dozen years have made those millionaire owners greedy. A pox on them! George and Virginia will roll over in their respective graves.
