Donald Penn agrees to contract with Oakland Raiders
The Oakland Raiders have located another left tackle. We'll see if this one sticks.
NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Media's Albert Breer reported Tuesday that Donald Penn has agreed to a deal with the Raiders, according to a team source. Penn's deal is for two years and is worth $9.6 million, with $4.2 million guaranteed, Breer reported.
Penn might be the blindside protector the Raiders thought they landed last week when they agreed to a deal with Rodger Saffold. That agreement fell through after Saffold failed his physical. According to Breer, Penn will get the first crack at Oakland's left tackle job, though nothing is guaranteed.
Penn, 30, spent the last seven seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after signing a monster six-year contract with the team in 2010. He was set to make $6.75 million in 2014, but was released after the Bucs signed Anthony Collins.
Penn's play slipped in recent years, but he still has the potential to fill a gaping hole on Oakland's roster, while allowing the organization to move on from the Saffold misadventure.
