There were two really good ones on Saturday, with Ohio winning on a TD with 13 seconds left, and Louisiana Lafayette driving for a winning 50 yard field goal after starting on their own 18 with 40 seconds and no timeouts.

(78,249 posts)Oh, and the Bradys, too. Tied 10-10 at the half.
That temporary field looks like $#*! The little rubber pellets are getting kicked up into the players' faces!

(28,373 posts)That shitty turf is the same on both sides of the field so I guess it doesn't work to any team's advantage. I just wish Marshall would at least try a pass or two every now and then.
Go Herd!

(78,249 posts)But what was with the fake punt at the end?! If you're going to call that, just go for the first down and ice it. If it's dropped or overthrown, you may be looking at OT or worse.

(28,373 posts)Marshall hadn't been passing downfield enough to suit me and for that play the receiver was wide open. Even if the pass had been incomplete, Marshall would have turned the ball over to FI on downs at the 35. That same result, or one very close to it, would have been just as (or more) likely with a short gain attempt like we saw from the Herd most of the night.
And what if you just go ahead and punt? What are you going to get out of that when you're already on the 35? It was a good call.

(11,444 posts)Louisiana Lafayette had a win in a lower division bowl decades ago, but that was it. Also, there were surprisingly good crowds for both of those games. I was expecting to see stadiums 75% empty, and the fans saw two very entertaining games.
