It was like the 1990 Reds. They could not get over the hump with the A's in the early 70s, but finally swept them

... the last Super Bowl for the Bengals in '89 (against the 49ers for a 2nd time) and now, compared to the Reds from the early-70's and 1990!

I'm not too confident that the Bengals can keep surviving their poor OL this season, but at least they'd have their own version of Montana/Rice -- with Burrow and Chase -- in a Super Bowl rematch with the 49ers this time around.

Edit: As usual, the Bengals have a LOT of salary cap space. So I'd think they could attract some competent OL free agents who'd like to play for a potential Super Bowl ring in the offseason. And playing with a QB and others with a positive attitude.

In one year KC entirely rebuilt their offensive line to the point that they traded away a decent guard.

... that the Brown family seizes any opportunities.

Mike Brown's daughter and husband have pretty much taken over the Bengals operation, supposedly, so I hope that Mike mostly stays out of it. Let him keep enjoying his twilight years dumpster-diving and looking for loose change around parking meters and vending machines, or whatever he's been doing lately.
