(727 posts)Let's go, CHIEFS!
I took out the trash and returned and found that the Bills had scored a TD with abt 15 seconds left and I thought we were DONE!

Probably decided by the OT coin toss, ultimately.

YOU KNOW, the only reason I watch football anymore is because my dear 81-year-old *crazy cat lady* friend has a major crush on Patrick!! - (I call the team The Patricks, actually-)
SUCH a fabulous game!!!

Hospitalizations for heart issues might be temporarily elevated in KC and Buffalo.

(14,321 posts)I didn't even care who won, but the idea that you can lose a game based on a coin toss is stupid. For some reason I'd thought the NFL fixed that after the Denver-Puttsburgh playoff game way back when.
Buckeye_Democrat
(15,042 posts)... one of them scores a TD in overtime, as Kansas City did.
It might've been some multiple-OT game if the NFL used the college rules.

(14,321 posts)To touch the ball is what you want ake issue with. Much as I dislike college football, it's one thing to hey get right.

(29,348 posts)In the NFL they can play defense or hold them to a field goal. A multiple overtime NFL game would make teams too tired to play the next week and easy to bet against. It is also an advantage to play defense first in college overtime.

(4,770 posts)that was a game. I still think they need to fix the overtime rules, so each team gets a chance with the ball.

(4,770 posts)even if a TD is scored. Because so much more rides on the coin flip.

(4,132 posts)Just play another quarter with the same rules.
Works for baseball and basketball.

(24,905 posts)It took TWO great teams to make that masterpiece happen! As a KC-area native, I'm a die-hard Chiefs fan; but I've gained a new respect for Josh Allen's Bills--something I don't really have for ANY other team! It's a shame one of these teams had to lose that game! Again, to the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen!

(17,813 posts)They just didn't win the toin coss in OT.

(412 posts)Congrats on a great season. Allen is a beast of a QB. Want my team (Cardinals) to draft him. Look at my post in this thread about what I think was a mistake the Bills made on the last kickoff in regulation.

would change their tune if the Bills had won the coin toss.
The Chiefs won. Get over it.
tishaLA
(14,321 posts)and it's not like we're alone, either: sportswriters have pieces up from coast to coast criticizing the rule. Because it's a bad rule. So, I guess, get over it.

(17,813 posts)Whoever won the toss would have scored, because both teams were playing great.
A time limit seems fairer.

(412 posts)Hingsight is 20/20 but on the Bills last kickoff in regulation with 13 seconds left I cannot understand why they kicked the ball into the endzone resulting in no time coming off the clock. If they squib kick it and force KC to pick it up. Clock starts then and maybe 4-5 seconds come off the clock giving KC one play to get in FG range if possible. Bad clock management by the Bills.
But is was a game for the ages. Congrats to KC.
