Related: About this forumA Mass Effect movie? Ugh, please...NO!!!
I'm late to the Mass Effect fan club, as I just finished a complete playthrough of ME1, 2 and 3. The thought of them making a movie of this epic game trilogy...ugh they'll ruin it.
I really hope they do a TV series similar to BG. It could be an epic TV series.
Any thoughts?

(18,807 posts)A movie would get focus-grouped into oblivion and be the sort of disaster trainwrecks cringe away from while saying "Goddamn, that was ugly."

(16,184 posts)Mass Effect would be no different. Even if you did a trilogy just for one game, it wouldn't do the storyline justice.

(18,807 posts)Game of Thrones is something like $60 million a season, and a typical A-list movie is what, $300 million these days? It's nuts.

(63,119 posts)just seperate yourself from the original work and try to watch the movie objectively.
otherwise you will make yourself crazy.

The game simply does not lend itself well to the big screen, especially with the controversial ending(s).

(18,807 posts)I'd love to see more stuff, in whatever medium, set in that world in general. Shepard's story is done, for sure, but there's decades of events set up involving the humans and quite a lot more involving everyone else. (And that's assuming there's nothing being done after the Which Color Special Effects Do You Want point...)

(16,184 posts)The double-edged sword of voice acting is that it both allows a lot of freedom in designing characters (don't have to design the character based on the person providing the voice), but it means live action would be damn near impossible if the voice actors don't look like the characters.
Some exceptions to this of course, like with Joker, but overall, it's a problem.

(10,558 posts)I've played both series through multiple times on X-BOX. Personally I prefer Halo but both games have their unique good points. Regarding a movie, I have the Halo movie Forward Unto Dawn. Unless you are hopeless geek like me the movie is terrible and that's being kind. I've long wished for a well done Halo movie and that one ain't it.
Regarding a Mass Effect movie, I don't think there is enough there to draw enough movie goers. Both Halo and Mass Effect revolve around the same story line: Human hero saves universe from ancient alien scourge. For the movie to do well it would have to draw moviegoers who were not already fans of the game.
It is quite likely I am biased but i don't think a Mass Effect movie would do as well as a Halo movie because Halo is a bit more wider known. I say that because Halo launched the wildly successful XBOX gaming system and Halo has a larger fan base. That said if only the fan base shows up, the movie will be a crushing box office flop regardless of how well done.
