I just finished the game on Easy a few days ago and have started through on Survivor difficulty. This is probably one of my favorites in a long time.

Is the story awesome?
Are there upgrades or unlockables?

(16,184 posts)Controls and gameplay might be a bit of a learning curve if you're too familiar with shooters. Supplies and ammo are really limited even on the easier difficulties, so you're going to be depending more on stealth than combat. You can upgrade your weapons, abilities, and the things you can craft, but, again, limited supplies makes you choose what you get and when.
The story is like if you rolled elements from 28 Days Later, Mad Max, Children of Men, Escape from New York, and I Am Legend into one. In hindsight, it was kind of predictable, but it was still really good.

(423 posts)I bought it the morning it was released, and have beat it on Easy, Easy+, Normal, Normal+, and Hard.
When I finished Hard mode, the game wouldn't allow me to continue on to Hard+. The only "plus" options available to me (after beating Hard mode) were for Easy and Normal. So I'm starting Hard mode over again. (Maybe I thought I had it set to Hard, but was accidentally playing in Normal mode again?)
I started playing Survivor mode, and got an hour into it, but I didn't like it because Joel's R2-hearing function doesn't work on Survivor. Funny, when I first got the game I thought the hearing function was too gimmicky and unrealistic, but I really grew to depend on it.
