Brian Reynolds goes back to his Civilization roots

Brian Reynolds, best known for founding Big Huge Games, co-founding Firaxis Games, and most recently serving as Zynga's chief game designer, has revealed his latest plans -- a partnership with online game giant Nexon.

Reynolds left Zynga earlier this year to "pursue other opportunities." As has now been revealed, he went on to found SecretNewCo in March, and has partnered with Nexon to develop a game that goes back to Reynolds' Civilization II roots.

SecretNewGame, as it is being called for now, sees players taking on the role of a tribe leader during the Stone Age, and working your game through each age of human history. You're able to form alliances with other players, trade, and attack other people.

aaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggg... OK, I like that he is going to go back to strategy gaming but I'd prefer he did it back at Firaxis with Sid... And not re-do Rise of Nations but rather do the same thing with Alpha Centuari... I'll probably grow old and die still wishing for that to happen

I try to get into them, but my interest usually is gone after winning one time. Galactic civilizations and to some degree Civ 3 (I know, I know.. Its considers the worst but I like it) are the only other ones I could get into.

Alpha centauri is my favorite though. I never get sick of it. And 90 percent of the time I play as the university. I would kill for a sequel. But I don't think it will ever happen. To many shitty online games to make, I guess. Sigh.
