{My only comment: what took them so long?}
We are writing tell you about an important change to Diablo III: we're going to be removing the gold and real-money auction house system from the game.
When we initially designed and implemented the auction house system, the driving goal was to provide a convenient and secure system for trades. But after much review and player feedback, it became increasingly clear that despite the benefits of the AH system and the fact that many players around the world use it, it ultimately undermines Diablo's core game play: kill monsters to get cool loot.
We're working out the details of how the auction house system will be shut down, but we wanted to share the news as soon as we made the decision in order to give everyone as much advance notice as possible. Please note that the final shutdown will occur on March 18, 2014. We will keep everyone informed as we work through this process, but feel free to check out our blog post on the subject, and stay tuned to Diablo 3.com for further details.

(2,228 posts)it pissed me off to no end that anyone with their own or mommy's credit card could get the loot i spent HOURS trying to get.

(21,894 posts)They completely lost sight of what makes Diablo fun to play and I find it unlikely that this will really fix it... Even if it did, I'm probably not going to return to either this Blizzard game or any future ones.

(24,096 posts)It's because they are getting hacked upside the head and can't keep up. Whatever coin they might be making off the AH is used up in time closing hack holes. Idiots.

(39,961 posts)is going to have to be about 10 times better than it sounds at present for me to leave Path of Exile. Path of Exile is a superior game in the vein of Diablo 2 than D3 ever will be. It's free to play, and it's not "pay to win" either, like D3 ended up being. You can buy stuff but it's things like more stash space, non-combat pets and weapon effects like glowing (vanity items, character slots and stash space). In other words, you still have to play the game, trade for things and hunt for loot.
Of course, who am I kidding? With Blizzard's track record, the expansion will likely be out in 2016 with about 1/3 of the features they claim it will have currently, and take 6 months to be patched into playable.

(994 posts)I enjoyed the console version of D3 but it doesn't have much of an endgame and I got bored with it pretty quick after reaching level cap with 3 different classes.
The next gen consoles are coming out and people will be moving on to other games like Destiny. RoS needs to be out now, not next year.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)Really, they should have two character classes this expansion, but Blizzard has gotten so monolithic that they think they can continue to take forever with their expansions.
I agree, RoS needs to be out now, not Blizzards arrogant idea of "soon".

(994 posts)Much better than what I've heard about the PC version. Much better than the horrible drop rates in Borderlands 2 as well. They really got it right on the consoles.

(39,961 posts)can we forget that ever happened, because the first one was awesome. Second? Not so much.

(994 posts)The grenades were much, much better. The Soldier/Commando turret was a lot better. Melee combat with Zero was awesome compared to Brick in the first game - "Many Must Fall" is one of my favorite character skills in any video game, ever.
They really messed up nerfing the chests and vendors so drastically and focusing on the raid bosses that dropped shitty loot as well. I read somewhere that the typical raid boss had a 1 in 10,000 chance of dropping a Legendary but even then, it might be one or two levels below your level. The payoff was so infrequent that I just started making my own gear with the Gibbed program and I never even considered modding in the first game.
I don't think they ever really had a good handle on their own exponential leveling system and they never planned ahead for how the game would play beyond level 50. Gearbox is certain cranking up the difficulty was the right move but I think they ran a lot of people off with that.
BTW, how is Roma Tomato Nose Cat? Sparkles does not want to go outside these days because the weather has been so cold!

(39,961 posts)is piled up asleep on the couch because it is colder than a well digger's behind outside .
She's good. I actually got her chipped last month, along with the battery of shots. I have a GPS in the kitten, and I know where she is! LOL
Sparkles sounds smart like mine. If it is cold, don't go outside!

(994 posts)She is a mess but I wouldn't trade her for anything.
It was great talking to you agian, Aerows. Have a good holiday.

(39,961 posts)I wouldn't trade my little darling for anything, either. She's spoiled rotten (and I wouldn't have it any other way!)
Happy Thanksgiving, SB
