Former Nintendo president Yamauchi dies

Industry legend passes away at the age of 85

Former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi, who led the company for over 50 years, has passed away at the age of 85, reports Nikkei.

Yamauchi led company from 1949 to 2002, and transformer the company from its early days marking cards to one of the world’s leading console manufacturers and game developers.

He led the company through many successful years as it established itself in the home and portable console market, launching the Nintendo Entertainment System, Game Boy, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64 and Gamecube during his time at the helm.
