Related: About this forumWolfenstein: The New Order
Available on PS3, PS4, Xbox360, Xbox One, PC. I played it on a PS4.
Genre: First person shooter with lots of stealth.
Story: Nazis take over the world with their super technology and it's up to you to end their reign of terror! The story is simple, but there's actually some real attempt at character development for several characters. There was more story than I was expecting for a shooter.
Gameplay: Very tight, which is mandatory for a shooter. You can duel wield two of the same gun, which is fun but burns through ammo. The sneaking is like the sneaking in every other game, except once you're spotted in an area, you remain spotted until you kill everyone. There are 32 perks you an unlock by performing certain tasks, such as stealth killing five commanders or getting X number of kills with a certain weapon. Most of them are easy to do. The levels are linear, but there's usually more than one way you can go, an obvious way and a secret sneaky way. One thing I like about linear games is you're constantly going to a new area and seeing new things.
Presentation: The game has an epic feel right from the beginning. Giant robots, great levels with secret paths, insane missions, and tons of gore. I wish fantasy rpgs were this epic (I'm looking at you Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor).
Replay: New game+. New modes to unlock by finding hidden codes through the game, such as hardest difficulty with infinite ammo, and there is supposed to be a slightly different story path based upon a decision you make early in the game. I've only done one of the story paths so far, so I don't know if there is any real difference between the two.
Overall: Wolfenstein is a blast. I bought it during the last Playstation Store sale for $24 and it exceeded my expectations. I wouldn't spend $60 on it, but it's definitely worth $30. If you see it on sale, and you love shooters, grab it.

(4,472 posts)I like shooters and I might give Wolfenstein a try, if I ever get bored with Destiny.

(29,047 posts)Borderlands has different classes, an awesome loot system, and online co-op, so it has excellent replayability. I am currently playing Wolfenstein again for the collectables and to check out the other story path. If you see it on sale, definitely grab it. I don't want to give anything away, but there were a few levels that surprised me in a good way.

(188 posts)I've invested about 2 and a half hours into this on the 360. Of that 30 minutes is actual game play - the other two hours is my throwing myself off a cliff because I can't seem to get the hang on the sprint jump.
Run. Jump. Fall. Back to load screen. Lather rinse repeat. Thankfully I have Kerbal Space Program to help dull the pain.

(29,047 posts)Are you sure you're sprint jumping in a place you are supposed to be sprint jumping? What level are you on?
RexDart
(188 posts)that it's the jump right after you shoot a lot people, but that might not narrow it down enough.
It's actually the second one. You come down a hallway past a dining room and run into a gap. All the NPCs with you jump across and then mock you with stuff like "it's your turn now" and "come on" and so forth.
There's a note in the upper corner telling me to sprint jump. I've tried 2 different controllers, just to eliminate that as a possibility, so it looks like it's me.

(29,047 posts)The only time I messed up that jump was when I tried to jump before they told me to jump because they have to be ready to catch you. Even if you jump well enough to make it you fail without their help, so make sure you're jumping into them.
Are you holding down the sprint button the whole time? If so, you only need to press it once while moving and you'll sprint.

(11,833 posts)after I tire of Borderland 2 The Pre-Sequel. The previous Wolfenstein game I thought kind of sucked. This one looks a lot better, creepy & funny.
