Related: About this forumPS4 not connecting to any servers...
Hi all,
As the title suggests my PS4 is not able to connect to any server to play online games and I'm currently down a rabbit hole trying to troubleshoot this and so far nothing has worked and I'm getting fed up.
I thought I'd ask here if anyone has had this issue and how did they fix it.
There is plenty of things offering different fixes which I am working my way through but it would be totally great if there is a simple fix I'm missing.
My PSN is active and I have PS+ which also has no problems getting the monthly games so I don't think that has anything to do with it.
I have tried changing the DNS on my router to googles(as often recommended). Not sure if I should change the default gateway when doing that so I didn't.
I also have reset the router which didn't do anything. I have manually configured the PS4 internet setup again and nothing.
Thinking of disconnecting Ipv6 and using IPv4 just to check as I have read people saying they had to call the ISP to change it back.
I haven't tried manually doing the ports as I'm not certain how to do that.
Was thinking about resetting the entire PS4 system but will that mean I lose all saved data?
I wonder if it could be related to my PSN/PS+ account being a UK account when I'm actually in Spain, that could be trying to log into the wrong servers? No idea?
It all worked fine around 6 months ago and the kids mentioned they couldn't play plants v zombies online so I looked it up and saw it was a common problem with no fix at the time so just racked it up to bad luck and ignored the problem. But now(probably for the whole time) it's clear that no game will connect to the online.
Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

(10,163 posts)When did your problem start? I'm not sure what to say to help you....I have had weird connection problems in the past that just suddenly started and then stopped on their own and others that I went nuts over for weeks...I assume you have tried the resources that pop up from a Google search or from Sony Tech Support.
I wish you luck!

(791 posts)It's probably been for at least the last 6 months although I only just realised it now, the kids noticed a while ago but I didn't really know it was such a problem back then. But yeah I did think it would sort itself out with the next update but it obviously hasn't.
I'm deep in open tabs slowly working through them to see if I can get a fix, was going to try as much as I can before trying Sony who I have a feeling will say 'Call your ISP' which is the last thing I want to do but may have to.
Thanks for the luck, think I need it.
Either way I hope I can update with a solution eventually.

(22,540 posts)There are a couple of people with similar sounding issues here (but no fix):

https://www.reddit.com/r/PS4/comments/8p41dj/cant_connect_to_online_games/
Both of those people reported that connecting to a wifi hotspot on their phone (ie a different service provider) allows them to connect, implying that the problem here is with your ISP, not the PlayStation.
Someone in one of those threads suggested testing the PS4 by taking it to a friend's house and trying it on their network. If it works, at least you'll know the culprit is your ISP.

(791 posts)If I can I will try that, as you say if that will work then it's the ISP or possibly the router.
Everything else works though like Netflix, Prime, HBO which I all watch via the PS4. It's just connecting to the game servers are an issue. I'd imagine I'd be having issues with those too if it was a faulty wire or something.
Think the next thing I'll try is manually adding the ports and if that doesn't work then the hotspot thing as I have no friends really. I should also try bypassing the wifi altogether and see if it works plugged straight in.

(791 posts)So after some fiddling about I have managed to play 'Wipeout' online with no issues, which is something I guess.
However 'Battlefront2' and 'Plants v Zombies' will not connect. This comes back round to my original theory that it is a problem specifically with EA games as it is also a fairly big issue for them but not so sure now. It does kind of connect and find matches to play but as soon as the game should start it dumps me from them.
That said the kids can't connect to 'Terrerias' online multiplayer and they are not EA.
'No Man's Sky' seems to work fine though.
I will check out a few more EA and non EA games when I get a chance, just don't have the access to check whenever I want so it's slow going.
