I was always taught to spell it Crepe Myrtle. So I looked it up online to see if I had been misspelling it. Either way is acceptable, (Whew,) but it is also a regional difference in spelling. The South tends to spells it Crepe Myrtle, and every other area tends to spell it Crape Myrtle. There are even people who spell it as all one word Crapemyrtle! Thanks for the lovely plant pictures! Take care.

(735 posts)I checked online to make sure I wasn't misspelling it. And basically you can spell it any of those 3 ways and it is correct. I'm sorry if I offended you.

(136,043 posts)Interesting, isn't it, when several spellings are acceptable.

(735 posts)I just thought all the different spellings were interesting, too. I try to learn new things every day. I turn 65 this year, and like Biden I substitute people's names with another person's name sometimes, forget the names of things, and put things where I'll remember where they are, (and don't find them when I need them!) So I try to learn something new every day so I don't feel like I'm totally losing it! Thank you for being understanding and kind. Take care.
