Call it a hunch, but I suspect that Pep Guardiola will be managing Manchester United by the time the summer transfer window opens.
Pep doesn't seem to have much interest in extending his contact at Bayern Munich at this point, and is undoubtedly feeling immense pressure to win the treble this year. Even if he does win the treble at Bayern, he's really only meeting the basic expectations.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have looked really, really flat and almost disinterested for some time now. Pressure seems to be mounting on Louis van Gaal to launch Man U back into the Champions League, but frankly I don't think they have the horses to get there. Chelski and City are near locks at this point, I think, and Southampton just keeps rolling along as well. Further, I think with Ozil back at Arsenal I believe they'll make a strong push for the final UCL place.
What say you, DU Football room? Am I a right idiot for thinking Pep will move to Old Trafford this summer? If he does move, do you think Man U will quickly adapt to his style? Could Rooney succeed playing tiki taka?

(6,261 posts)The Guardian confirms he's not eager to extend his contract yet. Who could say? Football is weird these days.
Pep Guardiola in no rush to sign new deal with Bayern Munich.

(488 posts)Not that I think Pep would be all that great of a fit at Manchester United, but they do get lots of love from the global media. I don't really get the impression that the Manchester United brand matters that much to Louis Van Gaal, but I could see Pep going for it in a major way. Plus, I could see the EPL tripping all over themselves marketing the resumption of the Mourinho/Guardiola rivalry in England.
If/when Pep does leave, I really would love to see the Bayern brass approach Philipp Lahm about a player-coach role. I could see Lahm having an outstandingly successful second career as the Bayern coach.
