Flamengo seemed to dominate the game that went to double overtime.
Firmino made the lonely score for Liverpool 1 x 0 Flamengo.
He is probably the best soccer player in the world right now. He's an impressive superstar.
The game was held in a stadium is Saudi Arabia, Doha (?) is the name of the city. Correct me if I am wrong.
It was a great professional match to watch......(I was cheering for Flamengo, but sad I missed the lonely goal. I am going to try to find it on youtube again. I am sure someone has posted this winning goal. )
Unfortunately I could only depend on some posters on youtube attempting to stream it live. It worked well for awhile but during the overtime it was cut off for most of the posters I was trying to access. Overall, I was glad to be able to access some of it.
Anybody else watch it?
on edit: changed Firmino spelling.

(4,575 posts)Have been for many years.
Firmino, is not the best player in the world but he has great skill and him along with Mane and Salah are pretty formidable together.
Go on YouTube. Dozens of recap videos in all languages there now.

(5,270 posts)I have been following the impressive rise of Flamengo for sometime now as they demolished all teams except for one (Santos) in
South America. They had a 29 game winning streak until the Santos.
I will probably be now checking out the Liverpool team more often.
LOL. I am sure I will spend countless minutes on youtube again, today. I did find the winning goal in a couple of posts.
Overall, I am glad Flamengo rose to international recognition. To play Liverpool is a big deal!
Flamengo has been the darling team of Brazil through good and bad years.

(5,270 posts)I am dependent on the internet for all info.
I don't even know if this game was available on the major media stations.
I almost wanted to contact Sling for this game, but didn't have the time.

(6,261 posts)Fox had the rights but chose not to show it live.
It's perceived as a bit of an artificial tournament by most fans, I'd say, and playing it in Qatar does not make most fans feel more enthusiastic about it.
Nit: It was 0-0 at the end of regulation, and thus went to extra time which is always played in 2 full 15 minute halves regardless of how many goals are scored. After that it would have gone to penalties had the match still been drawn.

(5,270 posts)They really frown on public drinking, from what I understand. I wonder if its even offered at the stadium.
It was full of Brazilians going wild, and I wondered about the policies in regards to going wild.
I guess that is what you meant about the Qatar policies not compatible with the soccer craze...
I thought about that the moment I heard it would be held in Saudi Arabia.
