Corsica

Has anyone been to Corsica? My husband and I will be there for 3-4 days in late October. Wondering where to stay, what places not to miss. Should we see the whole island or are there particular places not to miss?

Thanks for your insights!

but, I'd still like to "talk" with someone who's been to the island. We have a couple of books and saw some online stuff. The place is gorgeous. But, it's a little overwhelming to make choices.

7. Trip to Corsica----Total Fail

Well, I should have known something was wrong when I couldn't print out a boarding pass the night before. My husband's printed out but when I attempted to get mine this message popped up: Something is wrong with your documents. Arrive at Delta check-in at least 3 hours early so the clerk can review your documents.

So, we get there 3 hours early and the clerk can't figure it out. She keeps entering my data and getting rejected. Then, she goes to the office in back then returns and tells me that they can't let me board the plane because my passport expires in 2 months and Italy/France require at least 3 months before expiration. I did not know this.

Delta gave me a credit for the cost of our flights for one year. The car rental charged me half the total. One hotel agreed to not charge me the other is charging me full price. The ferry to Corsica is non-refundable.

Delta offered to change my reservation to the following day so that I could get a 24 hour new passport but that meant that I would miss the conference on Friday which was the reason I was going to Europe in the first place.

Pain in the ass, and embarrassing. I had no idea this would happen. I had time to renew the passport but didn't think there was any problem.

due for renewal within 6 months. I had my passport stolen several years ago and have been super careful about all things passport since!

P.S. don't lose your passport. It's a PITA to deal with, esp. if you are not in a capital city or one without a U.S. consulate...
