TSA will allow travelers to bring larger bottles of hand sanitizer in their carry-ons

Volume limits will still apply to other liquids, gels.

The Transportation Security Administration will allow travelers to bring larger bottles of hand sanitizer on board with them when they fly, the agency announced Friday — the latest in a series of policy changes tied to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Passengers will now be allowed to travel with containers of liquid hand sanitizer up to 12 ounces. However, the agency cautioned that the shift could mean slightly longer waits at checkpoint because the containers may have to be screened separately when going through security.

The 3.4-ounce or 100 milliliters limit will still apply to other liquids, gels and aerosols. Those items must still be carried in a one-quart sized bag.
