It was a miracle, and God was specifically thanked for the food because they started with very little. I can almost imagine him saying, Baruch atta adonai eloheinu melech ha'olam ... They gathered together what there was, and at the end they had even more. Presumably thanks was given afterwards, but that may be a latter, purely rabbinic addition. (But this shows, for sure, that Maduro isn't the second coming. He gathered together what they had and at the end unfed the masses.)
But for all that, after preaching as to how they ought to live--strive for righteousness, make peace, be humble and meek, mourn (whether for general unrighteousness or for Israel's fallen status or their own wrongdoing is unclear), etc., etc.--he sent them all home again.
It was a package deal. Preach, feed, return.
There are better places to look for how to deal with the stranger, but they all have their own hooks that need radical de-barbing either through recontextualization or decontextualization.

(1,896 posts)Europeans were very critical of how poorly Americans have handled waves of migrants from south of the border. Then Libya and Syria happened, and we found out how poorly Europe reacted to waves of migrants.
