https://www.voanews.com/a/student-charged-with-killing-professor-over-anti-islam-remarks/4844929.htmlThe student, Khateeb Hussain, attacked his English professor, Khalid Hameed, with a knife Wednesday at Government Sadiq Egerton College.
The attacker was apparently unhappy about plans for an upcoming farewell party the professor was arranging that would include both male and female students of the college.
The attacker allegedly viewed the party as vulgar and against the teachings of Islam.
Hey, the attacker was personally offended and insulted. I guess it was the professor's fault for provoking him?

(49,533 posts)It does no one any good to keep promoting the notion that blasphemy is a real crime and that people who disagree with certain religious beliefs, and speak or act accordingly, should be arrested and/or punished.
It's quite concerning to see that idea promoted on DU.

(7,886 posts)The claims that blasphemy is a serious crime, the claims that the religion group is openly hostile to theists. Somehow they bear no responsibility, the bad stuff is all human faults, they bring the good parts. And you just have to know what the good parts are, and don't ask. Never question, that comes back to blasphemy.

(7,886 posts)Most of the theistic hostility is directed at one person, who bring it upon himself.

(42,649 posts)An interesting concept.
Why is it that so few theists actually post in the religion group?
Lordquinton
(7,886 posts)You would have to ask them all.
For a real answer, that's been answered many times in many ways recently. If you want to continue to pretend you haven't seen any of it go right ahead.

(42,649 posts)but I am still looking for the evidence to support such an assertion.

(35,454 posts)Is it the country's excuse for racism, misogyny and homophobia. Must be at least 5 different threads on DU right now where people are being harmed/killed with blasphemy as the given reason. It's like the 12th century in that country.

(49,533 posts)Insisting that people follow the dictates of a religion whether they believe in it or not, and not criticize any of the teachings or edicts it issues. When people are emboldened by religious faith - which requires no actual evidence to support it - dangerous things can happen.
