When Religious Logos Fail Really, Really Badly

The logo below is a real one, created in 1973 for the Catholic Church's Archdiocesan Youth Commission. Imagine their embarrassment at not understanding why it was not a good idea. And the graphic designer? As they say, WTAF?

In a way, it's a very ingenious use of positive and negative space.
